Hu/hum Pronouns

hu/hum

Hu/hum gender neutral neopronouns were derived from the word "human". Known as "humanist pronouns", these pronouns were created by Sasha Newborn in 1982, in a college humanities class. They could be considered the first instance of nounself pronouns. The idea behind the set was using "the genderless human" and taking a "back-clippings, in which an element or elements are taken from the end of a word" like in the words flu(influenza), lab(oratory) or math(ematics). It can be used by anyone regardless of gender or identity.
