Ze/hir are gender neutral neopronouns. They are coined from the earlier "sie and hir" which are considered too feminine/female-sounding since "sie" is German for "she" and "hir" was a feminine pronoun in Middle English. The current pronouns are still slightly feminine, using the same declensions as "she". Despite that they can be used by anyone regardless of gender or identity.
