Thon/thons are gender neutral neopronouns which can be used regardless of gender or identity. One of the first known instances of someone creating new gender neutral pronouns in English is American composer Charles Crozat Converse who proposed the pronouns thon/thons/thonself in 1858 based on a contraction of "that one". The thon pronoun was included in a handful of dictionaries such as Websters International Dictionary, Funk & Wagnalls New Standard Dictionary, and Websters Second International.
