Per/pers are gender neutral neopronouns inspired by the word "person" which can be used regardless of gender or identity. Also Known as "person pronouns" these pronouns are used for a person of any gender. John Clark created person pronouns in a 1972 issue of the Newsletter of the American Anthropological Association. These pronouns were also used in a 1976 novel Woman on the Edge of Time by Marge Piercy.
